1. Introduction
Welcome to Blink Marketplace (“Blink”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Blink Marketplace mobile app, website, auction rooms, collector's deposits, cosignor's tools, specialist verification, and delivery services (collectively, the “Platform”).
By creating an account, placing a bid, or listing an item on Blink Marketplace, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any specialized guidelines published on our Platform.
If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our Platform.
2. About Blink Marketplace
Blink Marketplace is a premier digital auction house dedicated to the discovery, verification, and sale of rare and high-value physical assets.
We specialize in six primary categories:
- Vintage Autos: Classic, collector, and rare motor vehicles.
- Fine Arts: Paintings, sculptures, and original artistic works.
- Historic Artifacts: Culturally significant, ancient, or rare physical artifacts.
- Fine Wine & Rare Spirits: Provenance-backed vintage wines, rare whiskies, and collectible spirits.
- Luxury Accoutrements & Timepieces: Fine jewelry, rare watches, haute horology, and high-end accessories.
- Memorabilia & Historical Documents: Autographed items, historical manuscripts, letters, and archival pieces.
Our Platform features:
- Scheduled online auctions and real-time bidding rooms;
- Optional live host broadcasts and specialist Q&A sessions;
- Automated absentee AI bidding tools;
- Specialist inspection, provenance check, and authenticity workflows;
- White-glove logistics and secure transport coordination.
Blink Marketplace operates as a curated venue connecting collectors and cosignors. Unless explicitly stated otherwise on a listing, Blink acts as an auctioneer and facilitator rather than the direct owner or seller of the listed items.
3. Eligibility
To use Blink Marketplace, you must:
- Be at least eighteen (18) years old (or twenty-one (21) years old when bidding on Fine Wine & Rare Spirits);
- Have full legal capacity to enter into binding agreements;
- Provide accurate, verifiable identity and contact information;
- Complete required identity checks (KYC) before participating in high-value auctions.
Blink reserves the right to decline registration, request identity verification documents, or suspend access at our discretion to protect the community.
4. User Accounts and Security
4.1 Registration
You must provide your legal name, contact details, and required identification materials when signing up. You may not create multiple accounts to manipulate auctions, bypass bidding limits, or deceive other users.
4.2 Account Security
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials, login codes, and wallet PINs private. You are accountable for all bids placed and actions taken through your account.
4.3 Account Deletion & Active Obligations
You may request account deletion directly inside your Account Settings.
Please note: Deletion requests are paused if you have active bids, pending purchases, unfulfilled sales, items currently stored or undergoing inspection, or open dispute inquiries. Your account will remain open until all transactions, payments, and deliveries are fully completed.
Certain transaction records, authenticity logs, and legal documentation will be securely retained after account closure where required by law or for fraud prevention.
5. Cosignors and Collectors
5.1 Cosignor Responsibilities
All cosignors listing items on Blink Marketplace must:
- Provide true and complete details about the item's history, condition, past repairs, and proof of ownership;
- Make items available for physical inspection and verification by our specialists before the auction goes live;
- Confirm full legal ownership, ensuring the item is free of any unpaid loans, claims, or legal disputes;
- Pay the standard seller fee once a sale is successfully completed.
5.2 Individual Consignors & Professional Dealers
Blink Marketplace supports both private collectors and established businesses:
- Individual Consignors: Private collectors offering personal items or rare pieces must complete our identity check and specialist item evaluation for every submission.
- Professional Dealers: Registered galleries, and trade specialists listing regular inventory must maintain valid business registration and ensure every item meets our official inspection standards.
5.3 Private Auction Rooms
Blink supports private, invite-only auction rooms for select high-value collections. All rules regarding bidding commitments, authenticity, and payment apply equally to private room participants.
6. Authenticity, Provenance & Inspections
Trust and authenticity are the foundation of Blink Marketplace.
Prior to publication, items undergo rigorous evaluation, which may include physical inspection by independent horologists, art historians, master mechanics, wine specialists, or document experts.
Inspection Reports: Official condition and authenticity reports are made available on each listing page. Bidders are strongly encouraged to review all imagery, condition reports, and provenance history prior to bidding.
Condition Disclaimer:Due to the unique nature of vintage vehicles, aged wines, historic documents, and antique art, items are sold reflecting their documented age and character. Unless an item substantially deviates from its official Condition Report, sales are completed on an "As-Inspected" basis once the buyer approves hand-off.
7. Bidding, Auto-Bids & Technical Fair-Play
7.1 Bidding Rules
All bids are final and binding. You cannot retract or modify a bid once placed. Auctions may feature reserve prices (the confidential minimum price the seller is willing to accept).
7.2 Auto-Bidding
You may set a maximum secret bid limit. Our system will automatically increment your bid on your behalf—up to your maximum limit—only as needed to maintain your position as highest bidder.
7.3 Technical Issues
In the rare event of a severe platform outage or technical failure during the final minutes of an auction, Blink reserves the right to extend the auction countdown or restart the session to ensure fair participation for all bidders.
8. Prestige Deposit System (Bidding Commitments)
To ensure all participants are serious collectors and prevent unverified bidding, users must hold an active refundable deposit (“Prestige Deposit”) in their wallet before bidding on select high-value lots.
Deposit guidelines:
- Typically requires a refundable deposit ( 5% of starting valuation or current valuation upto a maximum of 1 Million Naira);
- Determines your maximum allowable total bidding power across live auctions.
Deposit Return: If you do not win the auction, your Prestige Deposit is automatically unlocked and returned to your platform wallet.
8.1 Winning Bidder Default
Placing the winning bid creates an immediate contract to complete the purchase. If a winning bidder fails to pay the balance within the required timeframe (typically 48 to 72 hours), they will be in default. Defaulting results in account suspension and partial or total forfeiture of their Prestige Deposit to compensate the seller and cover operational costs.
9. Payments and Financial Safety
All financial transfers, wallet top-ups, and sales settlements are processed safely through licensed financial partners, payment gateways (including Paystack), and regulated banking channels.
Funds for completed purchases are held securely in escrow until condition verification and delivery protocols are satisfied.
10. Specialized Transport & Storage
Due to the delicate nature of luxury items, Blink facilitates specialized white-glove transport and vaulting services:
- Vintage Autos: Covered, flatbed, or enclosed vehicle transport;
- Fine Wine & Spirits: Temperature and humidity-controlled transit and storage;
- Art, Watches & Documents: Armored transport, climate-controlled packaging, and transit insurance.
Delivery costs, custom clearance fees, and insurance options are detailed prior to final settlement.
11. Platform Fees
Blink charges transparent fees to maintain platform security, expert curation, and vaulting support:
- Buyer’s Premium: A standard percentage added to the hammer price of winning bids;
- Seller Commission: Agreed percentage deducted from final hammer prices;
- Specialist Services: Fees for custom authentication, enclosed freight, or extended vault storage.
All applicable fees are presented clearly prior to bid confirmation or listing publishing.
12. Prohibited Conduct
Users strictly agree NOT to:
- Engage in shill bidding (bidding on your own items or having associates bid to artificially raise prices);
- Provide false provenance documents, fake artwork, counterfeit watches, or altered historic records;
- Contact buyers or sellers directly to complete sales outside the Platform to avoid fees;
- Harass auction hosts, specialists, or fellow collectors.
Violations will result in permanent account removal, deposit loss, and legal reporting where appropriate.
13. Legal Compliance & Data Protection
Blink Marketplace complies with all anti-money laundering (AML) laws, Know-Your-Customer (KYC) regulations, and financial guidelines applicable to high-value asset transfers.
Data Privacy: Your personal information, identity cards, and transaction records are handled in strict compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and detailed in our Privacy Policy.
14. Dispute Resolution
If a disagreement arises regarding item condition, authenticity, or transit damage, buyers and sellers agree to submit the matter to Blink’s Dispute Resolution Board before taking external legal action.
Our team will review official pre-auction inspection logs, high-resolution imagery, provenance papers, and carrier reports to issue a fair, binding decision.
